Ecocentre and Waste Recovery Centers
Ecocenters are public equipment, with controlled access, for the collection of waste, especially large dimensions such as monos, appliances, wood, tires, scrap, garden waste, among others, in addition to recyclable waste such as plastics, paper/cardboard, glass, … etc.
In the economic aspect, Ecocenters must allow municipalities to recover costs due to the diversion of valuable materials, which would otherwise occupy landfill space, with high economic and environmental costs.
Ecocenters can reduce the costs of collecting Monos, leading residents to deliver their waste to these locations, avoiding door-to-door collection as is currently done by most municipalities.
The collection solution through Ecocenters is widely used in Central European countries, even serving as a hotspot for the logistics system in rural areas (Austria, Sweden,… etc.).
ECOGESTUS has already carried out several Projects for Waste Transfer Units and Ecocenters. One of these projects can be consulted on video .
