Coyne et Bellier has performed a large number of missions to assist in the restoration of inland waterways (including framework agreements with Voies Navigables de France). We also put our skill and knowhow at the service of clients for the design and construction of suitable flood-defence works. Notable examples are the studies carried out after flooding by rivers in the Cévennes range of southern France (Cèze, Gardon, Vidourle) and in the Loire Valley region.

Most water-resources projects built throughout the world have a flood-defence component.
Coyne et Bellier has long and extensive experience in global analysis of protection against flooding :
- general design and construction of defences, particularly of “open” flood-control dams without permanent reservoirs (Conqueyrac, Ceyrac, La Rouvière), or dams with permanent reservoirs of capacities restricted to dry-season or leisure requirements (Sainte-Cécile d`Andorge, Sénéchas)
- protection against flooding in the Loire river valley, design of Serre de la Fare dam on the Loire-base solution and open dam without permanent reservoir studied for the Ministry of the Environment, Chambonchard dam on the Cher, and the temporary Veurdre dam on the Allier river.
- flood-management studies for the dams listed in the "water-resources management" and "hydro power" sections: some examples are the dams of Manantali (Mali), Potrerillos (Argentina), Beni Haroun and Tichi Haf (Algeria), Tha Dan (Thailand), R`Mil (Tunisia), Wadi Qattarah (Libya), and Karun IV (Iran).
