Groundwater Protection
Over the years, Todd Groundwater has been involved in environmental site investigation, characterization, and cleanup, including work on some of the nation’s major Superfund Sites. The scientific and industrial communities now understand the groundwater contamination risks associated with chemical handling, storage, use, and disposal. Many sites are now proposing to shut down pump-and-treat systems that have been operating to remediate groundwater for decades.
Nonetheless issues of groundwater contamination continue and threats from inadequately-characterized and remediated sites remain a challenge. The number of new chemicals synthesized and marketed increases annually as does our ability to detect chemicals in trace amounts. The CAS Registry database, at present, contains more than 33 million organic and inorganic substances and we can now accurately analyze at concentrations down to parts per trillion.
Todd Groundwater is experienced in characterizing existing water quality issues, monitoring groundwater quality, and developing plans to prevent future problems. We can assist with:
- Recycled water recharge impacts and permitting
- Seawater intrusion
- Deep well injection
- Fracking impacts
- Industrial site releases
- Flow and solute transport modeling
- Salt and nutrient management
- Geochemical analysis
- Sensitivity and vulnerability studies
- Litigation support
