Noise levels are described in terms of decibels,and the regulations require different actions depending on the noise level in the workplace. Firstly they require a risk assessment where the noise is likely to exceed 80 dB(A) - if you need to raise your voice to talk at arms length you`re above 80 dB(A) - the assessment must include factors such as:

  • any indirect effects on health and safety regarding audible warning signals
