Sustainable Facilities Operations Services
A sustainable operation makes the best use of resources and produces the least amount of waste while improving efficiency and maximizing profitability. The resulting operational improvements: Lower operating costs through reduced use of energy, water, and raw materials. Improve environmental performance and compliance. Improve stakeholder relations. Address federal requirements as well as state and local ordinances.
With so many sustainability programs and technologies to choose from, it’s often hard to know where to begin or how to prioritize. WESTON worked with the U.S. Army Medical Command to develop a Strategic Sustainability Plan for all domestic U.S. Army hospitals. The plan includes a cohesive outline of the command’s sustainability vision, a roadmap to achieve it, and metrics to measure effectiveness. The expected benefits are not only reduced operating costs, but also improved patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
A WESTON team recommended $690,000 in quantified annual savings at a chemical plant with implementation costs ranging from zero to a capital investment of more than $1 million. Payback could start immediately: the longest ROI period was 9 years. Other benefits included a 14% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the prior year.
The Port of Los Angeles sought a response to a mayoral directive to green municipal operations. WESTON prepared a report that identified existing strengths in their sustainability program, as well as opportunities for future sustainability activities resulting in greener buildings, terminals, and infrastructure.
