Gas Analysers for Marine Transport - Maritime/Shipbuild/Water Transport - Maritime
Air emissions do not only belong to the industrial sector. Transport is subject to equally strict regulations, complicated by the main feature that these vehicles accumulate: crossing national borders. The limits may become stricter depending on the territory you are travelling through, particularly for the marine sector.
Reducing ship pollution is a common mission
Air emissions control is one of the United Nations international agreements
ETG Risorse e Tecnologia has developed a complex system for monitoring pollutants produced by ships and by the combustion produced by its engines. The latter emits a considerable amount of sulphur and nitrogen compounds (SOX, NOX), for which shipowners are required to install desulphurisation systems (DeSox). An additional safety level is represented by the smoke analysis system, ensuring that it respects the maximum SOX threshold allowed.
ETG Risorse e Tecnologia has taken up this new challenge and succeeded in bringing a complete, reliable, safe and certified system to market. Based on the technical specifications of the emission levels identified by the International Marine Organization (the United Nations agency that welcomes several signatory countries willing to reduce pollution caused by shipping) and the MARPOL Convention. The ETG 7500 system can automatically and continuously analyse compounds such as SO2, NO, NO2, CO, and CO2. It is equipped with probes, peripheral control units, and heated lines (useful to prevent the formation of condensation containing corrosive elements that could damage the instrumentation) and the central analysis unit can monitor the different chimneys present on the ship. Finally, there is an automatic backup system capable of continuing to operate even in first fault conditions. No intervention is required by the crew, which can continue the crossing until the technical intervention in port.
ETG Risorse e Tecnologia engineers have developed the ETG 7500 system to withstand the hostile marine climate. Thanks to its reliability, it was awarded RINA certification in 2018.
