Nitrogen Generator for Shipping Industry - Shipbuilding & Water Transport
Cargo shipping is a booming industry. In the context of global trade, more and more goods are being transported by ship from continent to continent. The cargo holds and tanks, in which solid and liquid cargo is stored for transit, are often filled with nitrogen. This protects the goods from spoilage and prevents explosions.
Bulk carriers contain large quantities of bulk goods, such as ore, coal and cement, or even liquid goods such as crude oil and chemicals. Dry bulk materials and dusts as well as liquid chemicals and oils are always a considerable fire and explosion hazard. Due to its high level of inertness, nitrogen is used in this context for headspace filling of cargo holds and liquid tanks.
Furthermore, foodstuffs stored in rooms charged with nitrogen can be protected against spoilage for a longer period. In this regard, nitrogen helps to minimise the risk of microbial infections and oxidative and enzymatic reactions with oxygen.
