Oil In Water Monitors - Continuous Measurement of Oil In Water and Waste Water

For all ranges of the industry the continuous monitoring of oil in effluent during the direct or indirect discharge is a very important aspect. An operational disturbance is to be recognized therefore fast, and the emission source can meet appropriate measures, in order to limit the damage. The measuring procedure is based on the dispersion of light with different wavelengths and under evaluation of several angles, by the oil and solid particles existing in the sample water. The determined measured values have a good comparability to in-house the specimens drawn by the responsible authorities as well as laboratories. It concerns thus an oil measuring instrument, which can differentiate surely between oil and in the waste water contained cloudy materials.

Oil Early Warning System

The oil warning device is suitable for detection of any media at the water surface with no or only low conductivity. With this measuring system a conductivity reference measurement between water and light liquid layer (oil, gasoline) is constantly accomplished. The range of application of the oil warning device lies in the border phase reproducton of layer thicknesses more largely 2 mm. The accurately adjustable stabilized switching point and the trigger behavior of the switching reference amplifier ensure a precise conductivity measurement in connection with the oil probe.

Oil Skimmer

The oil skimmer type 1000 is a swimming compact unit for the removal of light liquids from the surface of waters. Liquids like gasoline, fuel oil, engine oils to powder oil binders in free or saturated form can be removed. A stable swimming characteristic is ensured by the 4 radially arranged flotation chambers. The skimmer is adjustable in hights and centrically installed on the basic frame. The oil skimmer type 1000 can be operated by each pump system such as gyroscopes -, pistons -, diaphragm -, hose -, vacuum pumps. The pump system should be co-ordinated however with the medium.

Oils and other light liquids represent an enormous hazard potential for waters. Light liquids in the sense of the DIN 1999 are liquids of smaller density than water, which are not or only a little soluble in water and are unsaponify, like gasolines, diesel and fuel oils, filter oils, as well as other oils of mineral origin. No light liquids in the sense for this standard are emulsions, as well as fats and oils of vegetable or animal origin. On the other hand however light liquids offer the advantage due to their specific physical characteristics that they can be separated contrary to other materials with mechanical separation systems from the water.

In a healthy water a dynamic equilibrium between the oxygenation by the atmosphere and by photosynthesis and the oxygen consumtion by the process of mineralizing of organic material is established. In a dirty water the dynamic equilibrium is shifted in such a way that an overproduction of organic material is dominating. Hence it follows that more oxygen is necessary for the decay of the sedimenting organic material than it can be supplied to the deep layers of the water.
