AKRFs acoustics and vibration experts offer a broad range of acoustical services for the analysis and abatement of noise and vibration consistent with local, state, and federal regulations. Our experts perform noise and vibration studies using state-of-the-art measurement equipment and computer modeling (e.g., CadnaA, FHWA TNM, FTA) to address a range of concerns, including those relating to stationary and mobile sources, ensuring that sources comply with applicable regulations and that interior noise levels for various uses meet acceptable levels.

AKRF works closely with our clients to understand the intended use of each space. Our acoustical engineers identify important factors to achieve a successful acoustical design and find a balance between the architect’s design and the project’s acoustical goals. We perform sound and vibration testing using the latest acoustical instrumentation, architectural design studies, mechanical equipment review, and state-of-the-art computer modeling.

AKRF`s experts have worked on a wide variety of noise code-related projects in various municipalities throughout the northeast. In addition, we have extensive experience with the New York City Noise Control Code, and several of our experts are New York City Department of Environmental Protection-Approved Noise Consultants.

In support of the environmental review process, AKRF analyzes the potential air quality effects of a proposed project on the ambient environment as well as the potential effects from existing air pollution sources on proposed uses, such as new buildings and recreational spaces. AKRF uses advanced modeling techniques to simulate how ambient air pollutants emitted from a wide range of air pollution sources disperse and react in the atmosphere.

AKRFs air quality expertise includes preparing applications for pre-construction and operating air permits, as well as federal permits including Title V operating permits, and prevention of significant deterioration/new source review (PSD/NSR) permits under the Clean Air Act. AKRFs staff understands the complex permitting process and works closely with clients and regulatory agencies to ensure that permits can be issued in a timely manner. We work with facility owners and operators to establish permit conditions that allow for maximum operating flexibility.

AKRF has a long history of helping government agencies develop air quality policy and tools for air quality analysis, as well as in helping private clients understand how changes in regulations affect their projects, plans, and facilities.
