ENVIRONMENTAL DUE DILIGENCE

1. First level environmental due diligence consisting in support work to acquisition activities, concessions for the use of industrial areas and/or company mergers, focusing on documentation and visual research into environmental liability linked to the presence of structural and plant design pollution; 2. Second level environmental due diligence aimed at instrumental / analytical surveying of the effective presence of pollution highlighted in the 1st phase, and the resulting provision of prior financial evaluation for eventual mitigation actions or the elimination of identified environmental liability

Industrial Hygiene

• Risk assessment and management of dangerous chemical agents (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title IX). In particular, we deal with the detection of the presence of fine dusts (PM 10 and PM 2.5), Ozone, Formaldehyde, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC, such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylan), Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons PAH, heavy metals (Pb, Cr, Co, Cr, Zn, Ni) and other chemical pollutants. • Evaluation of the microclimate in working environments. The microclimate consists of the set of climatic parameters determining the thermal exchanges between the working environment and the people therein. These parameters are paramount to understanding whether the worker is working in a healthy environment or is under thermal stress. This stress can lead to the development of breathing illnesses or muscular-skeletal disorders, rheumatic and nervous diseases. • Evaluation of the risks of workplace noise exposure and in particular regarding hearing (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title VIII – Chap. II). • Evaluation of the risks from exposure to mechanical vibrations (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title VIII – Chap. III). • Evaluation and risk management of exposure to biological agents in the workplace, living environments, and health structures (TVC, Legionella, etc.) (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title X). • Evaluation of high and low frequency electromagnetic fields (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title VIII – Chap. IV). • Risk assessment of the manual handling of heavy loads which can lead to workers being at risk of illnesses from biomechanical overloading, in particular back injury (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title VI). • Ergonomic assessment of workstation design involved in the use of equipment with display screens (Legislative Decree 81/2008 Title VII). • Air quality assessment (Indoor and Outdoor). • Measurement of lighting technology and the planning of lighting systems.

ASBESTOS

Our company provides services for the identification and management of the “Asbestos” problem. This includes property surveys for public and private use and surveys of civil and industrial structures according to the legal requirements specified by the Law 257 of 1992 and the Ministerial Decree 6/9/94. We provide comprehensive asbestos management and safety systems in all situations in which the presence of asbestos may be to the detriment of human health. Our technical staff, made up of qualified professionals, has years of experience in the mapping and management of buildings where asbestos is present and also in the management of criticality, including environmental contamination from materials containing asbestos and making sites safe. We can provide our clients with all the responses in an analytical and prompt way as our company has a laboratory which has been accredited by the Italian Ministry of Health to perform analyses of materials suspected of containing asbestos using the technical methods in PCOM for bulk materials and airborne fibres and those specified in FTIR for bulk materials. Through sampling and air analysis we are able to evaluate indoor and outdoor environmental contamination according to the specifications of the Ministerial Decree 6/9/94. We then carry out control and maintenance plans as cited in Article 4 of this Decree. Using our expert professionals we may assume the role of “Project Manager for control and maintenance plans”. Such a position is fundamental in the management of maintenance activities on artefacts containing asbestos. Moreover, in a global service for asbestos criticality, our company can direct the client both towards prompt risk management as well as towards decisive activities for asbestos removal using the most professional companies accredited in this sector. We also provide legal assistance and technical-health consultation in all situations regarding “asbestos” which may involve damage to people from exposure to asbestos fibres.

We have a lot of experience in the industrial petrochemical field as well as in transportation. We work in nautical and aeronautical fields carrying out on-shore and offshore activities all over Europe, Eastern Europe and South East Asia. Regarding our services for naval transportation HSI Consulting Srl carries out environmental and occupational risk assessment in line with the specifications of the regulations from the IMO (International Maritime Organization). According to this legislation our company has also initiated processes in order to comply with the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 norms, in order to obtain accreditation as an inspection and control body. Regarding the aeronautical sector, our company has carried out numerous activities concerning the environmental and occupational impact of radar systems used by civil aviation.
