Hulsey McCormick & Wallace, Inc. (HMW) services
Environmental Monitoring
HMW provides environmental monitoring services at industrial, municipal, and RCRA sites. Services include routine groundwater monitoring at landfills, land application, and RCRA sites. Additionally, HMW conducts groundwater, soil, and stream sampling for Phase II environmental assessments, conducts routine methane monitoring at numerous landfills in South Carolina and Georgia, and performs stormwater sampling for industrial and municipal clients. (Include picture of Tony during low-flow sampling, on server, and take additional pictures of stormwater sampling and methane monitoring).
Site Assessments
HMW has provided numerous Phase I and Phase II ESAs in Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama at commercial, industrial, agricultural, and residential sites. Typically, an ESA client is a buyer or lender who wishes to ascertain the environmental liability on a prospective real estate investment. HMW uses the ASTM E1527 standard when performing these assessments. If further investigation is warranted, HMW typically employs the use of direct-push technology (DPT) in order to collect soil and/or groundwater without the expense of conventional drilling.
Regulatory Compliance
HMW provides regulatory compliance reports for numerous industrial and municipal clients as required by solid waste, land application, and NPDES permits. Examples of these reports are annual and semi-annual groundwater monitoring reports for landfills, annual land application reports (biosolids) for industrial and municipal clients, and stormwater reports for industrial and municipal clients. HMW also prepares monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) required by NPDES permits. Typically, our clients prefer that HMW performs the groundwater, soil, stormwater, and wastewater sampling associated with their respective permits.
Residuals Removal
HMW can assist with wastewater and water treatment basin cleanouts for municipal and industrial clients. Services provided include waste characterization, volume estimation, and obtaining quotes from removal and hauling contractors.
Drinking Water Treatment
Hulsey McCormick & Wallace, Inc. (HMW) provides water utility owners/operators with regulatory review, planning, design, and permitting assistance for water treatment and distribution projects. Our three-fold planning approach focuses on developing programs that assist our clients to: Stay up-to-date with current State and Federal Drinking Water Regulations, Prioritize needed infrastructure improvements, and Develop long-term plans to meet water demand growth.
Wastewater Treatment & Collections
As wastewater treatment plants and collection systems of our clients age, multiple challenges can arise. Treatment plant capacity needs may increase (or decrease), wastewater strength can change, significant I&I can occur, and regulatory permit discharge limits can become more restrictive. Master Sewer Planning provides a framework of addressing the critical infrastructure, growth, and regulatory compliance needs. Sound utility planning consulting is the hallmark of the wastewater consulting services that HMW provides.
Stormwater Management
Stormwater quality management and control requirements are a driving concern for many of our private and public clients. A sustainable stormwater infrastructure needs to be well designed and maintained. Local, state, and federal regulations affect the way stormwater system owners maintain existing infrastructure and how land can be developed in the future. HMWs professionals have provided its clients with tools to manage stormwater systems using GPS data collection and GIS mapping, to meet or exceed stormwater quality discharge regulations, and to provide engineered structures and enhanced natural features to mitigate the affects of increased peak stormwater run-off caused by changes in land use.
Services For Utility Agencies
Spatial Data Conversion: This process involves a technician working with engineering documents ie: plan and profile, field sketches, site plans, as-builts, etc, interpreting the information these documents contain, and converting this information to digital data. The method is called digitizing, however the digitizing process used to create GIS Data is usually done on background aerial photography or orthophotography that is tied to a land survey system. The data captured from the digitizing process is then made to be spatially accurate to the ground, and can be measured in actual feet, miles, and elevation.
GIS Services For Municipalities
Municipalities have different needs than other private organizations or utility agencies. Hulsey McCormick & Wallace offers specialized GIS services to accommodate the many varied needs of cities and towns. If you are planning to build a GIS for your city or town, or just want to improve the functionality of an existing GIS, Hulsey McCormick & Wallace recommends that a Needs Study be performed. Building a GIS requires that all software, hardware, and personnel components be identified. The GIS Needs Study accomplishes this by identifying priorities, scheduling, and associated costs. The information resulting from the Study will provide an information road map that will guide you to your GIS destination. This analysis and associated report is a practical step towards building or improving a GIS, and provides realistic expectations for those involved in the project.
