Ciment Fondu^® is the world`s first commercially manufactured calcium aluminate cement, patented by J. Bied of Lafarge 1908.  The initial preparation was in response to the demand for sulfate resistant cement.  Since then, subsequent research and product development revealed other properties of the cement that transformed it from being simply a sulfate-resistant cement into a binder for specialized applications that depend on its chemical, mineralogical and physical properties.  It has also led to the development of a family of calcium aluminate products, with a wide range of properties that can fulfill many industrial requirements.

Secar 41 was introduced to the North American market in 1987 in response to the refractory industry`s requirement for a low range cement with a lower iron content than Ciment Fondu.  This cement, containing 6% iron oxide, has also found applications in the civil and construction chemistry industries due to its more flowable rheology and longer open times as compared to Ciment Fondu, while still retaining the very rapid hardening properties known to calcium aluminate cements.

Secar 51 is a favorite of the worldwide refractory industry for formulating castables servicing medium duty applications. The construction chemicals industry has also found good use for this cement due to its strong reactivity and color compatibility with Portland cement. It has also become the standard color for refractory panels in pre-fabricated, zero-clearance fireplaces in the U.S.

Secar 80 is a formulated ciment blend used for designing all types of low water refractory castables. Secar 80 cement produced in Chesapeake, VA is currently available in the North American market. The clinker for this cement is prepared by solid state reaction under mineralogical control. The sintered clinker is then blended with high surface area alumina to create a binder system capable of contributing to high temperature strengths. To complete this system a proprietary multi component admixture system is added to deflocculate and set the system in a way suitable for many applications. Fondag is a pre-blended, high strength, heat resistant concrete designed for heavy industrial applications.  Fondag is a pure calcium aluminate concrete that contains both calcium aluminate cement and calcium aluminate aggregates.  The aggregates within Fondag are composed of the same clinker from which calcium aluminate cement is ground.  When Fondag hydrates, there is not only a physical bond between cement and aggregate, there is also a chemical bond.  The aggregates within Fondag are very hard, dense and non-porous.  This combination of physical and chemical bond between cement and aggregate produces a superior concrete capable of withstanding the toughest combinations of thermal cycling, high heat, severe abrasion, mechanical shock and corrosion.

SewperCoat is a technological breakthrough in the market of cementitious materials designed for the municipal wastewater industry. It provides high-strength, corrosion-resistant protection against biogenic corrosion caused by hydrogen sulfide (H2S) found in wastewater environments.
