Engineering Plus Geosciences Services

Geochemical Characterization Plus ML/ARD Prediction Service

Companies around the world that develop, operate or decommission projects, frequently encounter and require expertise in predicting, assessing and providing solutions to changes in water quality. These potential or real changes in water quality involve water mixing and/or water-rock or water-soil interactions. Rescan provides specialty services in environmental geochemistry that can address these needs.

Geographic Information Systems Service

GIS Services provides comprehensive support to Rescan’s clients, managers, scientists, planners, professional engineers and geoscientists. This includes providing technical information and specifications regarding survey and mapping accuracies, coordinate systems and transformations, remote sensing, as well as GIS based survey and mapping products.

Geotechnical Engineering Service

The geotechnical engineering section covers the fields of foundation engineering and terrain stability associated with environmental studies for major projects including proposed mining, power transmission and pipeline infrastructure. Rescan provides geotechnical services to industry and government.

Hydrogeology Service

Rescan hydrogeologists conduct groundwater investigations primarily for industrial and mining industry clients. We assist our clients by characterizing the hydrogeology of their properties, predicting how their projects or land uses will impact groundwater and recommend ways to manage the potential liabilities that may arise from particular activities.

Meteorology + Air Pollution Modelling Service

Rescan`s environmental engineers and atmospheric scientists offer expertise in air dispersion modelling and preparation of emissions inventories for mines and industrial operations. Emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases from proposed and existing operations often have the potential to affect local and regional air quality. Advanced air dispersion models, such as CALPUFF, allow Rescan to produce predictions of air quality impacts and evaluate the effectiveness of different mitigation measures. Rescan has conducted atmospheric dispersion studies for numerous mineral development projects around the globe. These analyses, along with well-designed emissions management plans, help our clients to obtain the necessary permits for project approval.

Mine Water Management + Treatment Service

Rescan provides mine water management and treatment expertise for operating, closed and historic mine sites. Our team design, evaluate and optimize the performance of lime treatment systems, metal sulfide precipitation plants, ion exchange, membrane processes, bioreactors and passive water treatment systems such as wetlands or permeable reactive barriers for the removal of metals, uranium, sulfate, cyanide and other mining related constituents. Using our experience and understanding of mining, metallurgical processing, water chemistry and water quality regulations, we develop pragmatic, innovative and appropriate solutions to meet our clients’ water management objectives.

Physical Oceanography Service

The oceanography group at Rescan specializes in characterizing the physical, chemical and biological marine, estuarine and coastal environment. Conceptual and numerical models are developed to provide insight into coastal processes, potential environmental impacts from project activities, and ultimately to implement design solutions for coastal developments.

Water Quality Modelling Service

Water quality modeling has become a common tool used in the mining industry to predict the long-term behaviour and changes to water quality from Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage (ML/ARD), as driven by high regulatory standards and stakeholder expectations. Rescan provides water quality modeling services to assess mine drainage and receiving environment water quality at all phases of the mine life cycle, from pre-construction through to post-closure monitoring. The power of water quality modeling is that temporal changes in water quality can be modeled and the future predicted water quality with and without various mitigation strategies can be evaluated.

Water Resource Engineering Service

Rescan provides Water Resource Engineering and Hydrologic services as it relates to industrial and infrastructure developments.
