The Burnside Building Sciences Group is a team of committed technologists and professional engineers who are passionate about buildings. We recognize the importance of staying current in a rapidly evolving industry and invest in the professional development of our people. We understand the financial and environmental impact of operating and maintaining building facilities and work with building owners to minimize these impacts.

Burnside has served the land development industry for over 40 years.  Over that time, the regulatory environment and the complexity associated with securing a permit or approval has changed significantly.  What has not changed however, is our commitment to service and value – allowing us the privilege of working with many industry leaders.

The Burnside Drainage Team has extensive experience in all aspects of land drainage, especially work under the Drainage Act. We provide services to Municipalities in south central and south western Ontario. Our team includes some of the most experienced and respected Drainage Engineers in the Province, as well as Junior Engineers, Technologists, Technicians and an Aquatic Resources Specialist. In addition, we have some staff who are Drainage Superintendents approved by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Our team has appeared before the Drainage Referee, the Appeal Tribunal and in court as `expert witnesses` in legal actions. We know that proper drainage is an essential part of our infrastructure and that it makes good neighbours and good communities, whether in rural or urban Ontario. Our Environmental Planning and Assessment Team includes Environmental Planners, Biologists, Aquatic Resource specialists, Environmental Scientists and Engineers, and other professionals that allow us to address a wide range of environmental issues. We are proud to have brought this team together, as it gives us the internal expertise needed to respond to many complex and diverse matters, collectively known as `Environmental`. From wind energy to fish and wildlife habitat, from vegetation assessments to watercourse realignments, we assess and advise on interactions between people and nature.

The primary purpose of a Geographic Information System is to collect, manage, analyze, and disseminate accurate spatial information. Burnside offers clients a variety of data collection techniques, customized maps, on-line services, custom designed software and personalized training. We have extensive experience in the management of data in all types of industry formats and from many sources and agencies.

The Burnside Hydrogeology technical group consists of an experienced team of dedicated hydrogeologists, geoscientists, engineers, and technicians, who have delivered innovative cost-effective groundwater resources services for over 35 years.Burnside provides a mult-disciplinary approach to groundwater issues, recognizing the interaction between groundwater and the complex hydrologic cycle on a scale up to the size of multiple integrated drainage basins. Working across the country and internationally, Burnside provides a variety of services from small water supply systems for golf courses and residential developments, to large city and regional groundwater resource assessment, and management plans.

The Burnside Mechanical Team is comprised of professional engineers and technical staff in the disciplines of mechanical, industrial process and manufacturing engineering. We provide services to our diverse clients for the varied equipment and systems within their facilities including:

The Burnside Infrastructure Group specializes in the design of water distribution and storm and sanitary collection infrastructure. Our services include master planning, detailed designs, and troubleshooting on aged systems.Services offered to Municipal Clients range in scope from preparation of preliminary servicing studies and proforma analysis through to completion of detailed designs and coordinating approvals. These services are undertaken for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional clients.

Burnside`s team of highly qualified solid waste professionals provides clients with a wide range of skills for their solid waste management needs. Our team provides complete services for planning, waste composition and quantification, waste reduction, reuse and recycling strategies, economic evaluation, site selection, design, construction, operations, environmental monitoring, operator training, remediation, closure and post-closure care.
