The Grundfos MP 1 pump used in the Grundfos MP 1 submersible pump sets is specially designed for purging and sampling monitoring wells with a diameter of at least 50 mm and a depth to 90 meters. The pump motor is controlled by a special adjustable frequency converter. Since the frequency is continuously adjustable, the capacity of the Grundfos MP 1 pump can be controlled from 0 to 2 m3/hour. This creates a constant flow of anaerobic water. Each new measurement must be purged before samples can be taken. The large capacity of the Grundfos MP 1 pump ensures that the measuring point is quickly purged. By setting it at a lower pumping capacity, the Grundfos MP 1 can also be used for sampling. Built-in safeguards protect the Grundfos MP 1 pump and frequency converter against overloads. The actual frequency can be read out on a display.

Two tubes, with a diameter of 10 or 16 mm, can be fitted on the hand-operated foot valve pump. The lever hinges on a tripod of which the height can be adjusted. In this way it is possible to take samples from wells fitted with a shaft type well cover as well as street type well covers. The hinge point of the lever can be moved quickly, in this way the stroke lever ratio can be adjusted which makes it possible to work efficiently at all times. The advantage of the lever is that it reverses the weight of the water filled tubes so that you need not carry the weight; on the contrary, your arm will be lifted slightly. This way pumping is little effort and can be sustained much longer. You can stand upright during the operation.

The hand-operated peristaltic pump is a very reliable apparatus that is used for pumping of gasses and fluids. The pump used is a simple, but very durable, peristaltic pump with three pressure rollers. The bearings of the drive shaft and the pressure rollers are waterresistant. The pump can deliver a pump pressure of 3 bar (thus also suitable for use with in-line filters) and an underpressure maximum of 1 bar. It is a selfpriming pump. Even when the pump is out of use the pump tube is completely pressed by at least one roller. Fluid and gas can not flow back. Using the hand-operated peristaltic pump water can be pumped from a depth of up to 9.5 meter. The hand-operated peristaltic pump is fitted with a handle with bearings that operates very light. The stainless steel monopod stand has been fitted with a press-down rim that allows you to press the stand into the soil easily for support. A 6 x 10 mm silicon tube is most suitable for groundwater sampling.

The filter apparatus, suitable for field and laboratory, has a net filtration area of 130 cm2. The medium to be filtered only has contact with the chemically inert teflon. The rest of the apparatus consist of stainless steel. If the proper filter membrane is used, very agressive fluids and gasses can also be filtered. The filter apparatus can be connected in-line to a peristaltic pump, nitrogen powered gas-lift pump or a bladder pump. Also vacuum filtrations are possible; any vacuum pump can be used to that purpose.

The plunging siphon is a very simple instrument for sampling of homogeneous fluids from vessels, tanks, containers (for instance tank lorries) and basins. As glass plunging siphons tend to break easily the unbreakable translucent teflon is applied. The inert teflon is not affected by chemicals avoiding the sample to be contaminated by the equipment. The plunging siphon is heat resistant to a temperature of 250°C. After removal of the narrowing cones a plunging siphon can be cleaned easily. The plunging siphons are supplied in a long (180 cm) and a short (90 cm) design inclusive narrowing cones for liquids with different viscosity, and with a protective tube.

This low cost submersible pump set is suitable for use in monitoring wells with a diameter of minimal 40 mm. The set includes three submersible pumps “Gigant”, three booster pumps, a roll of extension cable, sealed crimp splices (to make a waterproof cable extension), a roll of polyethylene sampling tube and a battery with battery charger. Both pumps are small centrifugal pumps with small but powerful motors. This allows them to fit in narrow monitoring wells. The Gigant pump can push water to a height of 10 meter. The Booster pumps have the samecapacity and can be applied as boosters.

The bailer samplers of rigid transparent teflon are supplied in various sizes and diameters. A special teflon coated cable can be delivered for lowering and raising the samplers. For all sizes a teflon emptying device is available to allow drainage of the sampler without any aeration or turbulence. HDPE and pvc disposable bailer samplers including bottom emptying device are also available.

This self-priming (up to a depth of 6 meter) centrifugal pump is used primarily for (fast) purging or emptying of monitoring wells and bore holes. Other applications are pumping water for irrigation, drinking water for cattle, etc. The pump has a quiet, reliable starting, economical fourstroke engine running on ordinary or unleaded petrol. The pump is not sensitive to polluted water and the maintenance is minimal and easily executed.
