Eijkelkamp - Model 09.02.01.05 - Laboratory Permeameter Open System, 5 Holders
In principle it is possible to design the soil water permeameters in any required size. The size is determined by the number of soil samples of which the saturated water permeability is to be determined simultaneously. Designs for 5 up to 25 soil sample rings can be supplied. The permeameters are available for soil sample rings with an external diameter of 53 or 60 mm.

The air pycnometer is supplied as a complete set, including a calibration block. The apparatus is suited for sample rings with a maximum diameter of 53 or 60 mm (max. height 51 resp. 40 mm). The instrument has a measuring range of 0-115 cm3. The time period of the measurement is approximately 1 minute. The maximum measuring accuracy equals 1%.

Eijkelkamp - Model 08.53 - Calcimeter to Determine Carbonate
The calcimeter by Eijkelkamp Soil & Water is suitable for the simultaneous determination of the carbonate content in 5 samples. Where possible the vulnerable glass was replaced by synthetic materials. Because hydrochloric acid is used a stable and ergonomic design was chosen. The calcimeter is delivered complete with reaction vessels and test tubes (without reagents). Per reaction approximately one hour is required. Carbonates that are hard to dissolve, such as sea shells, take more reaction time.

Eijkelkamp - Model 08.65 - Air Permeameter for Soil
The air permeameter apparatus measures the permeability or conductance of an (undisturbed) soil sample. Air permeability is the property of the soil pore system allowing air to flow through. Generally the pore sizes and their connectivity determine whether a soil has high or low permeability. Air will flow easily through soil with large pores and good connectivity between them. Small pores with the same degree of connectivity would have lower permeability, because air will flow through the soil more slowly.

In many land use systems worldwide soil deformation is a major problem arising from increasing land use intensity. Altered soil functions, in particular reduced hydraulic conductivities and impeded aeration, influence the top soil layers. This has an important effect on vulnerability to erosion, in particular. Assessing very thin soil layers like soil crusts requires very sensitive and highly accurate equipment which should also allow very small vertical stress application during measurement. Many different shear test devices are available for measuring shear strength, including direct shear apparatus, shear vanes or cone penetrometers, but the construction of the frame shear test requires a thickness of the sample of at least 3 cm for example, which excludes such a test device for soil crust strength determination.
