Model NEX-BETA is a Beta detector water monitor /controller for measuring of Beta emitting radio nuclides. The electronics are microprocessor with LED/LCD display with plug in modules facilitating quick change or addition of functions at a later date. Modular design allows for rapid repair by module replacement in the field.

This monitor was originally designed for real time low-level detection of tritium in water in the industrial environment of nuclear power plants and has now been updated and adapted for environmental and scientific applications. Low MDA, reliability, ruggedness and simplicity of operation is what sets this monitor apart from less durable laboratory type of the equipment.

This system consists of a small light tight detector assembly which is interfaced with the sample via male 1/4` pipe fittings with the readout and processor assembly via two BNC connectors. The sample is passed through a deionizer and filter and thence to the detector assembly, where it is viewed by a matched pair of photo multiplier tubes. The table top or rack mounted processor and display portion of this system conditions and analyzes the output from the photo multiplier tubes by pulse height and coincidence, thereby permitting the system to eliminate counting most background (noise) counts.

The F-CARB-9 Air Monitors assure safety against airborne radioactivity contamination by means of constant check with alarm and record capability. It provides integrated exposure information and can provide hard copy via external printer or computer. It is a complete system but may be expanded per need with modules of the FM-9 series.

The FM-9- ABNI uses a standard charcoal filter in TA`s unique quick change, no leak holder to trap any airborne Radio Iodine. The filter is under constant surveillance via a thin window scintillation detector. Air is drawn by a regulated pump through a three-foot inlet hose and exhausted via a flow meter through another three-foot hose. These may be extended to allow monitoring of hoods, glove boxes, stacks, etc. Time is recorded by an odometer type timer wired into the pump circuit. The FM-9-MA2 and FM-9-MAB2 Air Monitors utilize a solid state detector and two coordinated single channel analyzer windows. Utilizing two coordinated single channel analyzers the electronics will reject Radon pulses. The sample window (PHA allows the user to preset specific energy level for sample (eg. The “Radium A” peak), measuring Pu-239 or other Alpha emitters in the presence of significant or changing Radon-Thoron background. The count rate is shown on the front panel color monitor display both rate and integrated information. The user can select the operating modes: gross count, pulse height analyzing (PHA), or PHA with background subtract (PHA-SUB).
