Environmental Health and Safety Programs

With a myriad of federal, state and local regulations requiring resources, facilities often benefit from outsourced expertise. Sigma has successfully and cost-effectively provided outsourced EHS program assistance to numerous Clients. We have experienced staff dedicated to understanding EHS regulations and agency perspectives as we work with the regulated community to achieve consistent compliance with reasonable approaches.

Environmental and Safety Audits

Effective management of environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements is necessary for maintaining productive, sustainable operations. A sound EHS compliance and management program provides a means to avert problems and delays, reduce liability, avoid costs and present a positive image to the community. To that end, assessments/ audits are effective tools for understanding, evaluating, and verifying EHS compliance, EHS management systems, EHS initiatives, as well as liabilities and risks.

Demolition, Decommissioning and Abatement

Demolition is the first step in redeveloping properties with facilities that are obsolete or at the end of their usefulness. Decommission, abatement and razing are early site preparation activities that need to be managed in an environmentally responsible manner to optimize opportunities to recycle, minimize waste disposal and control impacts to the surroundings.

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality in healthcare facilities is unique for multiple reasons: 1) presence of microbes, viruses and bacteria associated with illness can lead to serious infections and disease; 2) controlled ventilation systems, including temperature, humidity and air change; and 3) volume and diversity of people-visitors, patients, employees, medical staff, contractors-going in and out of the building every day. Sigma employs engineering and industrial hygiene principles to scientifically collect, analyze and report IAQ data to assist healthcare Clients with making sound, informed decisions. Sigma develops appropriate risk-based monitoring strategies to ensure a safe environment for building occupants. Sigma provides rapid responses and concise reporting of findings that are tailored to situationdriven needs.

Air Emissions Management & Permitting

Industrial Air Quality encompasses more than the outdoor emissions from your facility. The indoor air quality at your facility affects your employees also. Sigma specializes in the design and application of equipment to solve your indoor and outdoor industrial air quality problems. Sigma has assisted numerous Clients with stack testing, opacity testing, developing emission inventories, obtaining air permits and calculating actual and potential emissions.

Asbestos Management

Regulations require that property owners, employers and property managers identify asbestos at facilities they currently own or manage. Whether the property is undergoing refinancing or redevelopment, the owner needs to know the financial risks and scheduling impacts associated with hazardous building materials. If these materials are identified during the planning phase of a project or the environmental phase of overall due diligence, the costs and scheduling impacts can be effectively planned and managed.
