FilterPod - Installation Services
FilterPod sewage treatment plants are the ONLY non-electric filter sewage treatment systems in the UK. Because of this unique quality and the fact that they are polyethylene tanks, not fibreglass and that they use only natural air currents instead of electric motors, pumps or blowers, they need to be installed by a trained FilterPod sewage treatment plant installer or someone who fully understands the tank properties and the venting of the septic tank and FilterPod system. The FilterPod system installation is SITE SPECIFIC and any installation instructions are only guidelines.
FilterPod - Maintenance Services
As with all sewage treatment plants, the FilterPod requires servicing in order to maintain its performance year after year. Unlike most electric plant which need servicing every 6 months, the FilterPod service is performed annually and should ONLY be performed by a trained FilterPod service engineer in order that the warranty is not compromised. This servicing is not expensive but it is unlike the service for any other plant.
Failed Soakaway Drainfield Insurance Claims
Failure of the soakaway drainfield is the most common cause of septic tank system failure. All soakaways fail eventually through natural causes, but there are some soakaway drainfield failures that may be covered under a householder`s Buildings Insurance Policy, if the policy includes accidental damage. WTE are experts on drainage fields, their problems and solutions and we will handle your claim for you, from your first phone-call to us to the final settlement from your Insurers.

Sewage Treatment Plants - Wastewater Treatment Explained
Sewage Treatment Processes Explained
The Wastewater Treatment Process: Sewage Treatment refers to the process of removing contaminants, microorganisms and other types of pollutants from wastewater. Wastewater, or raw sewage, is water that drains from toilets, sinks, showers, baths, dishwashers, washing machines and liquid industrial waste. It is treated in a multistage process by the Water Companies that make it safe to return to the environment. The wastewater undergoes several stages in its municipal treatment process for Environmental Protection:
Residential Wastewater Production
Wastewater Production In The UK Home: In the UK, the average person produces 150 Litres of wastewater per day. This is far more than many of our European neighbours, (Denmark averages 80 litres) but far less than the USA, where the average is 370 litres/person/day. It is also 55% more water than we used in 1980. 93% of total water consumption is used indoors, and only 7% outdoors. It is important to keep your water usage to within 150 litres/person/day, as this is the volume of water that is one of the main design criteria for sewage treatment plants.
Septic Tank and Soakaway Problems and Septic Tank Solutions
Septic Tank System - Failure - Sodium Binding
How Sodium Binding destroys the Septic Tank Systems soakaway. On average, a houshold of 3 to 4 persons will discharge the equivalent of around 25 kilos of salt into the septic tank system`s soakaway soil each year. Within a very few years, sodium discharge begins to affect the ability of the septic tank soakaway to treat and absorb domestic sewage effluent. The amounts of sodium used, the nature of the soil, and the size of the soakaway area in the system vary, of course.
