Air Intake Systems
The purpose of an air Intake system is to supply clean air to the gas turbine or compressor. Air needs to be properly cleaned and conditioned to ensure optimal operation of the main installation. Royal Dahlman is a supplier with a flexible approach; from the situational planning of the installation on site, to the bell mouth of gas turbine (or other rotating equipment).
High Quality components for air intake systems
Royal Dahlman supplies the whole component range of air intake systems applied to all kinds of challenging environmental conditions both on and off shore:
- Static up-flow, down-flow and cross flow solutions
- Anti-icing systems
- Pre-separation (Dust, insects, droplet, rain or snow)
- Air intake filtration (filter class up to H13)
- Air intake silencer
- Cooling or heating
- Elbow and flexible constructions
- Air intake ducting
- Inlet volutes (OEM supply)
- Foreign Object Damage deflector (OEM supply)
Requirements are never the same
Components can be designed and built on a customized base. Additional support in material selection and engineering design optimization is an integral part of our philosophy to offer the best technical solution for the installation itself. Choosing the right solution for an air intake system might have huge consequence regarding technical performance and cost of ownership over the operation time of the investment. Often the focus is too much on minimizing the initial investment and too little on the following operational costs which apply during the whole of the operational life. Royal Dahlman is the partner you want when exploring the opportunities for savings in Total Cost of Ownership.
One example refers to the considerations in pressure loss over the air intake system since this has direct consequences on the overall performance of the gas turbine installation. It is Royal Dahlman`s belief that potential efficiency improvements should be included in today`s solution and business scenario`s with an attractive Total Cost of Ownership, covering future energy price levels as well as stringent environmental demands. Royal Dahlman demonstrated that the addition of a third filter stage, which will call for some additional pressure loss and higher initial investments, has lead to a significant reduction in maintenance costs over the years. Additional conditioning of the air temperature and humidity can be used to influence the installation power and heat output.
