Hydraulic Modeling Services

SHARE
Hydraulic modeling is a tool used to simulate collection systems and evaluate conveyance of flow throughout a sewer network. RJN is experienced using hydraulic models to analyze sanitary, stormwater, and combined sewer systems for a wide range of scenarios, including present base flows, future flows, storm events, and post-improvement alternatives.

RJN specializes in modeling sanitary sewer collection systems that are impacted by rainfall-derived inflow and infiltration (RDII). Excessive RDII is a major source of operating problems in collection systems and the most common cause of sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and sewage backups.  Using specialized techniques to determine the effects of RDII during storm events, our experienced hydraulic modelers can identify locations within a collection system that are most at risk for SSOs and sewage backups and can predict system performance following capacity improvements and removal of RDII sources.

RJN modeling experts have experience with leading industry modeling software, including InfoWorks, XPSWMM, and SewerGEMS.

RJN will develop and apply hydraulic models to help you:

  • Use flow monitoring data to establish existing conditions and create hypothetical scenarios.
  • Identify hydraulic restrictions, bottlenecks, and other capacity issues in an existing collection system.
  • Assess present capacity and simulate future system usage.
  • Explore predictive scenarios designed to mitigate hydraulic restrictions, including flow reduction, system rehabilitation, and installation of relief sewers.
  • Develop alternatives to determine the most cost-effective options for improving existing system performance and accommodating future capacity requirements.
  • Prioritize future capacity improvements and removal of inflow and infiltration sources.
