GROUND Engineering Consultants services
Specialty Services
Pavement Management Service
GROUND provides pavement evaluation of roadways, airports and commercial/residential parking lots and drive areas. GROUND`s pavement management services are provided both during the design and construction phases.
Utility Inspection Service
GROUND provides utility pipe installation inspections for several governmental agencies including Denver Waste Water and Colorado Department of Transportation.
Road and Bridge Inspection Service
GROUND`s experience related to construction management, construction engineering and design engineering of major roadway projects, bridges, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, asphalt and concrete roadways, and major utility conduits includes.
Pile Driving Analysis Service
GROUND has engineers and equipment capable of performing high strain dynamic testing of driven piles during pile installation. The use of PDA during driving of piles (steel piles, concrete piles, timber piles) provides information such as pile capacity, tensile stress, compressive stress, hammer energy, damage, and other properties for each impact of the pile hammer. This information allows for a reduced factor of safety during construction, which generally results in reduced pile lengths and minimizes the potential for pile damage.
Non-Destructive Seismic Analysis and Sonic Testing Service
GROUND Engineering Consultants, Inc. offers a wide variety of seismic evaluations. In general accordance with the 2003 International Building Code, Seismic Site Class is to be either estimated based on the subsurface conditions at a project site or by performing actual measurement. Per recent government amendment, various municipalities, including the City and County of Denver, have dictated that seismicity design information be obtained directly from shear wave velocity testing. This testing is performed utilizing sophisticated downhole and crosshole seismic equipment, including state of the art Freedom DATA© instrumentation.
Resilient Modulus Testing Service
GROUND`s use of resilient modulus testing can save you money on your pavement thickness and subgrade preparation. GROUND is the only commercial laboratory in the State of Colorado that provides resilient modulus testing. All pavement designs are based on the resilient modulus of the supporting subgrade soils. Most pavement engineers obtain the resilient modulus used for design by performing other, less accurate test methods, and use correlations to obtain the resilient modulus. Using a GCTS Resilient Modulus/Triaxial Testing Machine, GROUND is capable of performing resilient modulus testing for asphalt and soil, including cohesive granular and treated soils.
Falling Weight Deflection Service
The use of falling weight deflection equipment is a non-destructive method for determining the in place modulus of pavement (asphalt and concrete) layers, including the base, subbase, and/or subgrade moduli values. This information is valuable in qualifying the condition of a pavement system for acceptance, rehabilitation (overlay, repair, replacement), or to evaluate the potential reduction in life because of special use, such as a temporary haul road where the contractor is responsible for restoration.
Ground Penetrating Radar Service
GROUND is utilizing a MALA RoadCart GPR unit, which is designed for high-speed road measurements. GROUND`s RoadCart is equipped with two shielded antennas, 2.3GHz and 800MHz. The GPR relies on electromagnetic waves/electromagnetic energy reflection from the material/object beneath the antennas to obtain a trace, and multiple traces create a 2-D color image called a Scan.
