Oil Water Separators
Potential - Corrugated Plate Interceptor (CPI) Oil Water Separator
CPI (corrugated plate interceptor) separators are used predominantly to separate free oil from wastewater/effluent. CPI unit is deployed at the primary stage of wastewater treatment wherein plate packs are used as the main separation device. The plate packs are designed with specific spacing and alignment to enable solids to settle and fall to the bottom while allowing oil drops to rise and coalesce. A CPI is also equipped with a secondary coalescer screen. This oleophilic coalescer traps oil particles down to 20 microns. Small particles coalesce into large globules and rise to the surface. Oil is skimmed using a suitable skimmer. Sludge at the bottom is removed by either gravity force or by a sludge removal pump.
Potential - Tilted Plate Interceptor (TPI) Oil Water Separator
TPI (Tilted plate interceptor) separators, including the TPI oil water separator, are utilized predominantly to separate free oil from effluent. TPI units are deployed at the primary stage of wastewater treatment, wherein plate packs serve as the main separation device. These plate packs are designed with specific spacing and alignment to enable solids to settle and fall to the bottom, while allowing oil drops to rise and coalesce. A TPI is also equipped with a secondary coalescer screen, which effectively traps oil particles down to 20 microns. Small particles coalesce into large globules and rise to the surface, where oil is skimmed using a suitable skimmer. Sludge at the bottom is removed by either gravity force or by a sludge removal pump.
Potential - Hydrocyclone Oil Water Separator
Hydrocyclone Oil Water Separator is a skid-mounted packaged solution. It is a simple and powerful oil-water separator that does not use consumables or chemicals. In this separator oily water is pumped tangentially into the separator using a high-pressure low-shear pump, it forms a powerful vortex and a huge centrifugal force. The centrifugal force is 1000 times stronger than the force of gravity pushing the light oil droplets toward the center of the vortex. Thus, two streams are generated, treated water ready for discharge or reuse, and separated oil for storage and disposal.
Potential - Coalescer Oil Water Separator
Coalescer separators are deployed to separate small droplets of free-floating oil from effluent water. Small droplets which cannot be separated by other conventional separation methods can be intercepted by coalescer separators. Coalescer is a superior separation technology that forces two tiny droplets to ‘coalesce’ to form a giant droplet, producing excellent oil and water separation. A coalescer is an efficient oil-water separator incorporated with coalescing material that removes up to 95% floating oil from the water. The oleophilic coalescer filter traps oil particles down to 20 microns. The free-floating oil is skimmed using a suitable skimmer.
Potential - Model API - Oil Water Separator
API oil water separator is a gravity-based separation system. It is designed as per API 421using Stokes’s Law. The specific gravity difference leads to the settlement of heavier solids at the bottom of the separator. Oil rises to form the top layer; heavy suspended particles from the bottom layer and the middle layer are formed by water. The top oil layer is skimmed off using a chain scraper system, slotted pipe skimmer, or a rotary skimmer. The bottom sediment layer is removed by chain and scraper arrangement (or similar device). Dimensions of API pits are specifically designed to ensure oil molecules reach the top surface of fluid before reaching the end of the pit.
