“VOMM Impianti e Processi” was founded at the end of the `60s in Italy, with the mission of developing more effective and innovative continuous technology for “Zini Prodotti Alimentari”, parent company active in the food production sector. In just a few years the patented Turbo Technology was applied in several sectors for raw material and by-product processing. Research and development activities on the application of its own Turbo Technology brought VOMM to obtain more than 50 international patents for innovative industrial treatments in different applications (flours, rubbers, soaps and detergents, wastes, etc.). The market successfully welcomed VOMM`s Turbo Technology with more than 500 plants operating all over the world on industrial applications in food, environmental, chemical and pharmaceutical sector. Total or partial drying of any kind of sludge, digestate or refusal for materials valorisation or energy valorisation (Refuse-derived fuel RDF). Thermal desorption of soil.

VOMM participated to several Life and Eureka environmental projects by the European Union and received important awards like the “Prize of Technological Innovation of Chamber of Commerce of Milan” (1996 and 1997) and “Best environmental project” in China for Beijing sludge drying plant (2010).

Moreover VOMM technology has been selected for the environmental infrastructure works in Sochi, city of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

VOMM Impianti e Processi S.p.A. is certified ISO 9001:2008, it has SOA certificates to participate in public tenders in Italy and all the required certificates to operate in Russia and China.

VOMM is partner of 'Suistainable Cruise Project', master plan co-funded by the European Commission through LIFE+ project, which aim is to reduce, recover and recycle waste produced on ships in order to improve the contribution of maritime sector to global climate change.

VOMM is very proud of the results achieved by its people’s ability to develop, improve and customize the Turbo-Technology according to different customer’s needs. VOMM Turbo-Technology is able to simplify industrial processes and reduce operation costs. Turbo Technology can be applied to thermal continuous processes (drying, concentration, roasting, pasteurization, desorption, thermal decomposition etc.), mechanical continuous processes (granulation, kneading, mixing, crystallization, coating) and chemical continuous processes (salt formation, soap synthesis, etc.) on solids, liquids and slurries.

VOMM Turbo-Technology is based on the creation of a thin film of material in high turbulence by means of a turbine rotating inside a static horizontal chamber. The chamber is jacketed and a thermal fluid such as thermal oil, steam, hot or chilled water is circulating to keep the temperature constant inside the machine, according to the process need.

The movement of the product inside the equipment is controlled by the turbine and, when required, by a flow of process gas sent in co-current with the product in open or closed circuit to avoid any uncontrolled atmospheric emission.

Main advantages of VOMM Turbo Technology are:

  • Flexible technology: it can be applied in different sectors for different processes, with solid, liquid or pasty products
  • Proven and reliable technology: more than 500 plants working all over the world
  • Durable and robust plants: more than 40 years of operation
  • Continuous process
  • Remarkable product homogeneity
  • Low energy consumption
  • Low O&M costs
  • Controlled emissions: thanks to the recirculation of process gas in a closed circuit
  • Mechanical self cleaning: the turbine completely discharge any kind of product allowing shorter cleaning cycles and safe emergency stop
  • Fully automated process
  • Reduced overall dimensions: VOMM plants can be easily installed also in existing buildings
  • Safe by design technology and ATEX compliant

VOMM has always invested significant resources in R&D and has a dedicated team of technicians working on 8 semi-industrial plants to test new applications. These pilot plants are used to test VOMM Turbo Technology applied to different processes, to verify and guarantee the quality of final products, to collect technical data for design and construction of industrial size plants and to develop new applications.
