ERG has considerable experience of scrubbing and recovering halogens and hydrogen halides from contaminated gas streams. In most cases, the discharge guarantee is 10mg/m3 HCI or HF and 5mg/m3 Cl2 to comply with site emissions standards. Scrubbing is into water for HCI recovery, or into a suitable alkaline solution for Cl2, HCI or HF removal where a salt solution is the scrubber effluent. Emergency chlorine scrubber in metal refining, bulk Cl2 scrubbing of over 15,000 kg/hr Cl2 mass flowrate using multi-stage V-tex® scrubbing, large scrubber sump tank to act as a heat sink and caustic liquor reservoir, and recirculation pump circuit to control the Cl2 release to the environment and the temperature build-up in the scrubbing circuit.
