Aqua Clear - Electrodeionization (EDI) System with Reverse Osmosis (RO)
Electrodeionization (EDI) is used with reverse osmosis (RO) to replace typical ion exchange resin mixed beds (DI), which require onsite or offsite chemical regeneration. EDI offers improved performance at a reduced cost over DI. Furthermore, EDI does not use chemicals nor does it generate hazardous waste. EDI systems are widely used in the Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Laboratory and Power industries where Ultrapure and High Purity water is required. The EDI system provides a final polishing step to remove ions remaining in the RO permeate to the desired target of ultrapure or high purity standard.
Aqua Clear - Mixed Bed DI and Ion Exchange Systems
Aqua Clear Water Treatment Specialists manufactures a complete line of mixed bed DI and ion exchange systems for a variety of water treatment applications. Our custom-built ion exchange systems remove an extensive range of dissolved contaminants such as nitrate, sulfate, fluoride, arsenic, barium and organics. Aqua Clear Water Treatment Specialists can also design systems to reduce perchlorate, hardness and disinfection byproducts.
Aqua Clear - Degasification for Water Systems
In High Purity/Ultrapure water applications when dissolved carbon dioxide (CO2) or oxygen (O2) is present in the water, a Membrane Contactor is often used for degasification between the RO and the EDI (or DI) to reduce the load on the EDI (or DI). Membrane Contactors are also an alternative to standard Deaerators for removing CO2 and 02 from boiler feedwater. The removal of CO2 and O2 protects boilers from corrosion. A Membrane Contactor uses a hollow fiber membrane where the feed water flows across the outside of the hollow fibers while a vacuum applied to the inside of the fibers. The hydrophobic membrane allows the dissolved gas to pass through the membrane while retaining the water. The vacuum creates the driving force for dissolved gas in the liquid to pass through the membrane pores and be swept away by the vacuum pump.
