Aluminium items are eminently suited to recycle. Did you know that aluminium can be recycled infinitely without losing quality? Recycling aluminium beverage cans saves 95% of the energy used making an aluminium can, compared to making it from raw bauxite. The energy saved from recycling one aluminium Coca Cola can will run a TV for three hours. If not recycled, it takes 80-100 years for an aluminium can to break down in a landfill.

What started with cable cutters, has expanded into including cable strippers, alligator shears and ACSR shears as well as machines and complete plants for processing of cables. The content of WEEE (electrical and electronic waste) gives recyclers various initiatives for recycling. It contains hazardous substances, such as lead, mercury or certain flame retardants, as well as precious metals like gold and silver. In 2012 approx. 64,900.000 ton electronic goods where produced and 49.000.000 ton electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) was generated. As the amount of sold electronic goods rise, the amount of WEEE rises. It is vital that this waste is taken care of properly.

It will typically be a question of processing in-correct castings into a homogeneous fraction prior to re-melting. By processing the incorrect castings into a homogeneous fraction the energy consumption during the re-melting process will be reduced. The plant is intended for size reduction of cast magnesium parts such as gear boxes, antlers, pucks, steering wheels etc.

During recent year it has become increasingly evident that an alternative energy sources has to be explored. RDF (Residual Derived Fuel) uses the energy content of the traditional household waste in order to substitute fuel. The production of RDF is the optimum solution both environmentally and economically. To optimize the process, it is important to reduce the waste volume into a homogeneous fraction size of e.g. less than 50 mm. The Eldan Recycling System is designed for size reduction of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) such as plastic wrappings, plastic films, paper, madresses, carpets etc. System capacities range from 5,000-15,000 kg/production hr. The final setup of a recycling system for processing of MSW will depend on the requirements of the customer and the specific input material.

The Eldan refrigerator recycling plant is designed for processing refrigerators operating with CFC/pentane gasses in order to prevent harmful substances to evaporate into the atmosphere and to achieve the most efficient recycling of the solid materials. A complete refrigerator recycling system includes everything from pre-chopping to separation of the material.

Dismantled ELVs (End of Life Vehicles) are sold to shredder operators and are reduced to fist-size pieces by large rotating hammer mills. The Shredder Light Fraction (SLF) is removed from the stream by suction, the intensity of which determines the amount and composition of the SLF. SLF consists essentially of plastics/rubber (~60%), Glass/sand i.e. mineral substances (~15%), Textiles/leather/wood (~10%), Paint dust/rust (~10%) and Residual metals (~5%). Other names for SLF are ASR (Automobile Shredder Residue) and Auto fluff or just fluff. For further processing of the SLF material originating from ELV (End of Life Vehicle), Eldan is able to offer various standard recycling plants. If required, the standard plants are can be customized to suit specific customer requirements.

Used tyres are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste today, due to the large volume produced and their durability. The same characteristics which make waste tyres a waste problem also make them one of the most re-used waste materials. Recycled tyre chips can be used for TDF (Tyre Derived Fuel) which is a fuel used for heat plants and cement ovens or for equestrian (i.e. rubber mixed with sand or sawdust used in the horse industry as ground in the stable or at the tracks). Rubber granulate is reused in e.g. sports fields, artificial turfs, rubber mats and moulded products. Rubber powder can be reused in rubber paved asphalt. The recovered steel can be smelted and reused just like non-recovered steel. Finally, the liberated textile has a very high effective burning value and can therefore be mixed with other materials in order to increase that material’s effective burning value.
