This one-day course for environmental managers provides an in-depth focus on organizational accounting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and emissions reductions for the oil and gas sector, including upstream, midstream and downstream, with particular emphasis on GHG accounting and quantification for refinery operations. This course focuses on preparing effective and verifiable corporate GHG inventories and utilizes sector-specific GHG protocols and guidance, such as the API Compendium and IPIECA guidelines. Other state registry protocols and project-based protocols will also be discussed and reviewed, including The Climate Registry and the California Climate Action Registry. Finally, the course reviews mitigation options specific to the oil and gas sector as well as quantification of offset project emissions reductions.
Using Life Cycle Analysis to Reduce Environmental Footprint
This course introduces students to the key steps in conducting an LCA, emphasizing how to ensure relevant data for improving environmental performance are gathered and analyzed.
