Ambient Monitoring Fundamentals Course
This new 1-day course provides a fundamental understanding of the considerations and requirements of ambient air quality and meteorological monitoring. This course covers station siting criteria all the way through data submittal, and includes a brief outdoor lab to exemplify the siting process, as well as the operation of multiple tools of the trade. Further instrumentation discussion and examples are conducted in an indoor laboratory setting. Real-world monitoring challenges will be discussed and experiences shared.
Advanced Spreadsheet Functionality for Air Quality Compliance
Microsoft Excel is widely used by environmental professionals in calculating emissions, compiling environmental reports, keeping operational records, and complying with permit limits. A properly designed spreadsheet can significantly reduce the time spent and potential errors in permitting, compliance and reporting tasks. In this 1-day workshop, new and seasoned environmental professionals learn to use advanced Microsoft Excel functions to streamline environmental tasks. Exercises throughout the class demonstrate real life applications of each function.
AERMOD Computer Modeling Laboratory
This 2-day course is designed for environmental professionals with little dispersion modeling experience who wish to use the AERMOD model or to better understand AERMOD results provided by others. Course topics include source characterization, building and terrain data, and results interpretation. The course includes hands-on modeling exercises and interactive lectures. It can be taken with the Fundamentals of Air Dispersion Modeling course, scheduled immediately prior, for more depth on scientific and regulatory fundamentals.
