Understanding and Application of RMP/PSM Requirements

This 2 day course is designed for plant and corporate staff who are responsible for elements of the RMP and PSM programs. Beneficial for new and experienced staff alike, it provides not only a broad understanding of the RMP and PSM requirements, but also discusses proposed changes to the requirements and recent enforcement activities. Throughout the course, the instructor utilizes their industry & consulting experience and solicits attendee discussion to highlight challenges and best practices to implement and manage RMP / PSM programs at their facility. Key program elements with ongoing requirements such as Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, Process Safety Information, Operating Procedures, and Emergency Response Plans are discussed in more detail. Instructor experience, group discussions, and examples of enforcement citations will be utilized to maximize understanding of this material.

Clean Water Act Permitting and Compliance

This 1-day course is designed for persons who need to understand the basics of water programs authorized by the Clean Water Act (CWA). The course covers such essential topics as water permitting and compliance; storm water permitting and compliance; spill prevention, control and countermeasures planning and compliance; wetlands permitting; and other CWA programs. The course format includes practical exercises and an open group discussion sessions intended to maximize understanding of the material.

Fundamentals of Odor: Measurements, Modeling, and Minimization

This course takes a practical look at how odors are 1) measured and monitored using odor panels, detection and recognition thresholds, and field equipment; 2) modeled, using measured values and available dispersion models, and compared to regulatory guidelines (where available) or rules of thumb; 3) controlled and minimized, through equipment controls and work practices. The course also offers a comparison of odor standards across various governmental organizations. Work exercises will focus on converting odor panel outputs to dispersion modeling inputs, and interpreting model outputs. Finally, an odor response program, including a means for a community to report odors, and officials to follow-up on reported odors, is outlined.
