Easily collect sludge samples from the bottom of petroleum tanks with this unique & user friendly sampling kit. Based on the popular design of the âAMS Multi-Stage Sediment Sampling Kitâ, the components in this kit are similar, only they are made from lightweight aluminum. This proves to be crucial, as often times tanks can be 50ft.+ in height; therefore keeping your sampler and extension strand âlightweightâ is a necessity. Having a solid/rigid extension strand gives the operator the ability to push and twist the sampler deep into the sludge.

AMS - Soggy Bottom Sediment Sampler System
Stops caving sediment! Use this manually-driven sampler for discrete interval sediment sampling in rivers, lakes, wetlands, and estuaries. To obtain a sample, the sampler is lowered to the surface as a dual tube or driven down to the desired depth where sampling is to begin below the surface. Upon reaching the desired sampling depth, the inner rods attached to the internal drive tip are retracted and removed, and additional extensions are added. Then, the internal drive tip is released and retained in a chamber at the top of the sampler. Next, the slide hammer is attached, and the sampler is driven down to collect the sample.
AMS - Russian Sediment and Peat Borer Complete Kit
The Russian Peat Borer (7.5 cm x 60cm model shown) is a side filling chambered-type sampler. This discrete point sampler enables one to drive the sampler to any point in the sediment profile in the closed (empty) position. Once the target depth is reached, the âTâ handle is turned clockwise to initiate the sampling while the pivotal cover plate supports the cutting action of the bore. As the sampler is turned 180 degrees, the sharpened edge of the bore longitudinally cuts a semi-cylindrical shaped sample until the opposite side of the cover plate is contacted. The contained sample can now be recovered without risk of contamination by overlying sediments. The sample is extruded from the bore by a counterclockwise rotation where sample rests on cover plate ready for sectioning.
